Project Overview

Located in Brentwood within the City of Melville, the Blue Gum Community Centre Refurbishment is a civic infrastructure project aimed at revitalising an ageing community asset to better meet the evolving needs of local residents and user groups. The facility functions as a multi-use community hub, supporting programs and events that foster social inclusion, lifelong learning, and neighbourhood engagement.

The refurbishment focused on upgrading essential infrastructure, including air conditioning and ventilation systems, power distribution, energy-efficient lighting, water services, and fire protection. All systems were designed to meet current codes, improve user comfort, and enhance long-term operational performance, while supporting the City’s goals for energy efficiency, accessibility, and inclusive community facilities.

Decobu was engaged by Mode Design to deliver comprehensive building services engineering—including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire design—across all stages of the project. Our scope included concept development, detailed documentation, and technical coordination to ensure seamless integration of new services within the existing building framework.
