Decobu is a rapidly growing national building services consultancy with ambitious plans for the future. As we continue to expand across Australia, we’re looking for an exceptional State Lead to take ownership of our New South Wales business.
This is far more than a technical leadership role.
As State Lead, you’ll be entrusted with leading one of our key business units, driving commercial performance, developing high-performing teams, and helping shape the strategic direction of the company alongside our national leadership team.
You will report directly to the Managing Director and hold a genuine seat at the leadership table, contributing to major business decisions, national strategy, operational improvements, growth initiatives, recruitment, and the future direction of Decobu.

The Opportunity
You will have accountability for the overall performance of the NSW business while working closely with our leadership team across Australia.
This role combines commercial leadership, people leadership and technical excellence, allowing you to make a genuine impact on both your team and the business.

What You Will Be Responsible For
Lead & Inspire
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, coach and retain exceptional people.
Drive Business Growth
- Develop and execute the NSW growth strategy.
- Build long-term client relationships and identify new opportunities.
- Work closely with our national leadership team to expand our market presence.
Own the Business
- Take ownership of the NSW P&L, financial performance and forecasting.
- Monitor revenue, utilisation, profitability and key business metrics.
- Make commercial decisions that support sustainable long-term growth.
Deliver Excellence
- Oversee project delivery and maintain exceptional technical standards.
- Champion quality assurance, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Support complex projects while empowering your team to succeed.
Help Shape the Future
As a member of Decobu’s leadership team, you will contribute well beyond NSW.

About You
We are looking for a leader who enjoys building businesses just as much as delivering great engineering.
You will bring:
- 10+ years’ experience within a building services consultancy.
- Demonstrated success leading people, projects and business performance.
- Experience managing or influencing a P&L.
- Strong commercial acumen and business development capability.
- A collaborative leadership style that brings out the best in people.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- A growth mindset with the energy and ambition to help build something special.
